David Benavidez next up may not find himself in a fight with Dmitry Bivol or Canelo Alvarez.

That is what it looks like just for now anyway.

Saudi organizer Turki Alalshikh said via Ring Magazine on X he is no longer interested in the fight and will not bid on it.

Disappointing news as Benavidez after his recent big win is now a big name at 175 lbs. and is coming full steam for everyone.

Maybe Benavidez can look to fight Artur Beterbiev but likely what will happen is Bivol vs Beterbiev III after a classic first two fights, Beterbiev winning the first last year and Bivol recently winning the rematch.

Canelo is tied up with two fights if he beats Scull soon he will take on Terence Crawford later this year.

The show goes on though and there are still plenty of great immediate fights out there for Benavidez.

Here is another good option for Benavidez instead next up, if the above scenario happens with Bivol vs Beterbiev III next up:

Callum Smith

  • Why? Smith recently won the interim WBO light heavyweight title with a victory over Joshua Buatsi on February 22, 2025, re-establishing himself as a top contender at 175 lbs.
  • The former super middleweight champion has faced elite competition (Canelo, Beterbiev) and brings a mix of size, skill, and experience.
  • A Benavidez-Smith fight could be a title unification opportunity, adding to its appeal.
