Should The AEW International & Continental Titles Be Merged? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
A report came out this week that All Elite Wrestling may be considering unifying the AEW International Championship and the AEW Continental Championship.
My question for you today is “Should those titles be unified?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answer…
I absolutely want AEW to unify those belts, for numerous reasons.
First, I think it’s stupid that they have three midcard titles for the men’s division. There isn’t even a brand split between Dynamite and Collision, but if there were, that would still only justify two, not three. Just having lots of championships to make it easier to avoid telling stories isn’t a strategy I like, and it’s one of the things that I hate about New Japan, too. If everyone has a belt, it matters less.
I also think the name “Continental Championship” sounds stupid. Granted, I’ve never liked regional-based titles, as they never make any sense. What’s the difference between the AEW World title and the AEW International title? They’re both “world” in a sense. Without inherently knowing that one is the top championship for arbitrary reasons, you’re not stating the difference. You might as well have the AEW Earth Championship and the AEW Seven Continents Championship, too.
Kenny Omega beats Konosuke Takeshita to win the International Championship. Omega then faces Kazuchika Okada at All In: Texas to unify the titles. They come out of this with the midcard titles being the AEW TNT Championship (which at this point, I also wish they’d rename, along with the TBS Championship) and the AEW International/Continental Championship. If you NEED to call it some stupid regional name, then just cut to the chase and go with the AEW Intercontinental Championship and call it a day. That’s what everyone is expecting, anyway.
What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
