During Saturday night's WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto pay-per-view event, John Cena turned heel and joined forces with The Rock after winning the 2025 men's Elimination Chamber match.

Cena, The Rock, and Travis Scott assaulted Cody Rhodes after The American Nightmare refused to sell his soul to The Final Boss.

As we previously reported here on eWn, WWE made tremendous efforts to keep Cena's heel turn from leaking, such as listing the Rhodes/Rock segment as third internally, when positioning it at the end of the show wasn't a last-minute decision.

While Cena and Rhodes knew the plan was for them to face off at WWE WrestleMania 41, The Rock's status for WrestleMania 41 is still in limbo following Elimination Chamber: Toronto.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that "the plan was that the Cena turn with Rock would have been saved for WrestleMania's finish. The idea is that once the decision was made, during the day, to do it on this show, then obviously it had to go on last."

It was also noted that some influential people in WWE could be swerving their own colleagues, and the heel turn was always destined to unfold as it did.

However, "many of the key people were told that it was a late change."
