The new champ went on a quick victory lap on social media after emerging victorious at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Magomed Ankalaev was always going to be playing the heel at UFC 313 but that didn’t appear to faze him one bit on March 8.

The challenger put on an impressive performance to beat fan favorite Alex Pereira over five rounds with a unanimous decision verdict seeing Ankalaev become the light heavyweight champion.

Though some fans argued that Pereira should have got his hand raised and criticized the judges, for the new champion, this moment has been a long time coming.

He has had to overcome some frustrating setbacks and a fair amount of waiting to finally live up to his potential and solidify his status as the best in the world at 205-pounds.

Magomed Ankalaev posts a series of messages to reflect on the biggest win of his career

On the day after his hard-fought win over Alex Pereira, Magomed Ankalaev kicked off his title reign with a serious of posts on X.

His first post shared his takeaways from re-watching the fight for the first time where he spoke about his game plan whilst evaluating both his and Pereira’s performances.

“I just watch the whole fight, I can out strike the best strikers First 3 rounds I made up my mind I will just strike with him, it was so much fun and it was not easy when all your opponent does is running. My pressure today was my best weapon and I'm very happy”

Ankalaev followed that up with another self congratulatory post about the success that he had when striking with an incredibly dangerous opponent like ‘Poatan’.

Though the challenger did rely on his grappling in the fourth round and failed to secure a single takedown, his striking was more than enough to get the job done on March 8.

“Who got power now thank you for all my haters you motivate me”

Finally, in another display of the new champion being more than happy to be the villain after ending an iconic UFC run, Ankalaev signed off with one last statement.

“NO CHAMA”

Magomed Ankalaev shoots down Jiri Prochazka as potential first title defense

Magomed Ankalaev also posted a response to one of the top contenders in the light heavyweight division following his win.

With Jiri Prochazka returning to the win column at UFC 311, Ankalaev’s first title defense being against the former champion would make sense.

Whilst Prochazka didn’t call for that fight when congratulating the new champion, the Russian titleholder quickly shut down the potential matchup.

“I think you are a fraud and so many guys deserve it more than you you need to go win some fights”

If Prochazka isn’t going to be in the conversation, two big light heavyweight clashes that are coming up with Jamahal Hill vs Khalil Rountree and Jan Blachowicz vs Carlos Ulberg could decide the next challenger unless a rematch with Alex Pereira takes place.
