AEW reveals the Women’s Owen Hart Tournament brackets. Reports indicate that WWE Evolution 2 may be coming soon. Eugenie chats with WrestleZone, and more!

Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Brackets Revealed

Tis the season of spring…and the Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments.

On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, All Elite Wrestling revealed the brackets for the 2025 Men’s and Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments. Last year’s series produced Mariah May and Bryan Danielson as the winners. This year, a new crop of names looks to do the same.

The left side of women’s brackets pits former AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter against Billie Starkz in the first round, while Kris Statlander takes on another former AEW Women’s Champion in the form of Thunder Rosa. On the other side, ROH Women’s Champion Athena will face Harley Cameron in an opener, whereas TBS Champion Mercedes Moné battles Julia Hart.

This tournament will officially kick off this weekend with Moné vs. Hart at AEW Dynasty. Hart recently returned from injury after losing the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale at the 2024 Dynasty pay-per-view. Moné looks to keep her undefeated streak intact, while also moving closer to a potential dream match against Athena in the second round.

Ahead of Dynasty, Moné and Cameron will take on Athena and Hart in tag team action on AEW Collision. In February, Cameron unsuccessfully challenged Moné for the TBS Championship.

WWE Evolution Returning?

In 2018, WWE hosted its first-ever all-women’s premium live event, titled Evolution, from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. Given its name, talents of the past, present, and future were featured.

The event itself also yielded an abundance of praise from women’s wrestling fans and wrestlers themselves, with names such as Bayley, Roxanne Perez, and Becky Lynch calling for a sequel. Seven years removed, their hopes may soon become a reality.

Bodyslam.net's Cory Hays recently reported that WWE was planning to add Evolution 2 to its summer lineup, specifically on July 5. WrestleVotes has since corroborated this report, while adding that an official announcement of the PLE is expected to be made on Monday, April 7.

When asked about the possibility of Evolution 2, former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair noted her excitement to make even more memories on the respective stage if given the chance.

“I think it'd be great if we have it,” Flair told Daily Mail UK. “I still think the goal is to have more main events and more storylines and so on. The magic that I created on the first one, if it comes to fruition, I look forward to creating more magic on Evolution 2."

Stephanie Vaquer Relinquishes NXT Women’s NA Title

The champ-champ era of Stephanie Vaquer has officially come to an end following a title relinquishment on WWE NXT.

In this week’s NXT opener, WWE NXT General Manager Ava confirmed that, after mutual agreement, Vaquer would vacate the NXT Women’s North American Championship to better ensure frequent defenses of it. Vaquer noted that this move came with the added condition of her personally choosing her NXT Women’s Championship challenger for the NXT Stand & Deliver event on April 19.

As of now, Vaquer’s Stand & Deliver opponent has yet to be named. Meanwhile, a six-woman ladder match to crown a new NXT Women’s North American Champion is in the process of being built.

Following Vaquer’s announcement, Zaria defeated Lash Legend to secure the first spot in the ladder match. Shortly after, Kelani Jordan bested two-time NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for the second. Qualifiers for the bout will continue next week on NXT.
