MJF Reacts To Fans Getting Upset Over AEW References On WWE TV

MJF sent a message to fans upset about AEW references in WWE.
This week on WWE RAW, Cody Rhodes and John Cena engaged in a heated exchange filled with AEW nods. Rhodes admitted to being booed in a company he helped create, but Cena delivered the most shocking remark. Taking a shot at AEW and its President, Tony Khan, Cena said, “I make empires for billionaires. All you've ever done is steal money from their kids.”
WWE has made several AEW references in recent weeks. Last week, on WWE RAW, CM Punk mocked his WrestleMania 41 opponents, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, by saying, “I work with children,” a phrase he originally used at All Out media scrum to criticize The Elite.
On WWE NXT, Shawn Spears took a dig at Ricky Starks’ AEW run. Spears dismissed him, suggesting NXT might not be a good fit. He also mocked Starks' AEW departure, hinting that a return wasn't possible due to burned bridges.
With WWE making numerous AEW references, MJF, who has referenced WWE multiple times in the past, addressed fans’ reactions. He questioned why fans get upset when either company acknowledges the other.
“I truly don't get why fans get up in arms when WWE mentions or references AEW. Or when AEW mentions or references WWE. If you want to be treated like children, watch Elmo. Or better yet. Tell VKM to start a new promotion.”

MJF explains why AEW is growing all over again
In March, MJF spoke with Jimmy Traina on the SI Media podcast about AEW’s resurgence. He said that the company was putting out great content. He then said that this great content was him.
“AEW, slowly but surely, is growing all over again, because what we're doing right now is we're putting undoubtedly great content out," MJF said. "The great content is me. It's got nothing to do with Tony Khan, he's a fucking moron, it's got everything to do with me. You're tuning in to see me. I'm back, and I've been back, and I'm interesting, and I've been interesting. We're on a tear right now and people are very interested to see me and Hangman go at it.”
