Becky Lynch is adding another big win to her résumé—this time, it's not in the ring but on the big screen. The former WWE Women's Champion has officially landed a supporting role in Happy Gilmore 2, the upcoming Netflix sequel to the 1996 classic. But in a twist that just surfaced, it turns out Becky might have edged out another former WWE star for the gig.
In a new interview with Byron Scott's Fastbreak, Kelly Kelly revealed that she also auditioned for Happy Gilmore 2 after learning the casting team was looking for a female wrestler. She didn't get the part—but it seems Becky did.
"I have a manager. She still submits me for roles. I still go out and audition. I auditioned for Happy Gilmore because they were looking for a female wrestler. Somebody else got it, but it's fine," Kelly said. "If the opportunity comes along and it's in LA, I would love to do something, especially if it's athletic."
Becky Lynch—real name Rebecca Quin—will be playing a golfer in the film, starring alongside NFL icon Reggie Bush. The cast is stacked, with Adam Sandler reprising his iconic role, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, Dennis Dugan, and even Bad Bunny in the mix. AEW's MJF is also making his feature film debut as Happy Gilmore's son, setting up a wrestling crossover fans didn't see coming.
Becky's move into acting lines up perfectly with WWE's growing relationship with Netflix, which begins with RAW's official debut on the platform on January 6, 2025. Lynch was last seen at WWE's promotional event for the move back in December, but she hasn't competed since May 2024 and is currently a free agent. Whether she returns to WWE or goes all-in on Hollywood, she's clearly staying booked.
Happy Gilmore 2 is set to drop on Netflix on July 25, and with Becky Lynch's name now attached to it, the film just got a lot more interesting.
