AEW, Warner Bros Discovery TV Media Deal Reportedly Done; Discussions With Fox ContinueJeff WhalenSep 12, 2024 - 11:24 am

-- AEW and Warner Bros Discovery rapidly closing in on a new media rights deal for AEW Dynamite, Collision, Rampage and perhaps more and reports now suggest that the two sides have all but agreed on a new agreement but simply haven't announced it yet.

-- Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that it is a "done deal" and there will be changes from a pay-per-view component though wasn't sure what that was though speculated that WBD would get those events in some fashion, likely incorporated into WBD's streaming service, Max.

-- On rumors that another side deal is being completed by AEW and Fox that would see a new show "Shockwave" debut on the station, Meltzer said that deal is not done and even if it happens, he doesn't believe a potential new show would air on Fox itself but rather a smaller, subsidiary station like FS1. He noted it's also possible the show could simply air on a streaming service rather than traditional cable. While a deal is not yet done, Meltzer said the two sides are "working on" something and the fact that AEW went so far as to trademark the term "Shockwave" would seem to suggest that they are "pretty darn close" to an agreement.
