WWE Hall of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler is said to be doing well, all things considered, after undergoing a series of health issues in recent years.
Lawler suffered a stroke in early 2023 that resulted in him missing that year’s Hall of Fame ceremony where he was set to induct the late Andy Kaufman.
The King reportedly suffered a bout of paralysis due to the stroke and underwent double knee surgery in March of this year.
On a recent edition of the “Wrestle Binge” podcast, Harvey Wippleman gave an update on his friend. He said,
"In all honesty, I talked to him last night. We talked for a while. We laughed, we cut up, we talked about old funny stories and everything, and it was just almost like it always was. He was maybe talking a little bit slower, but nothing alarming, you know?
“If I was unaware of his medical issues, I would have thought maybe he just had a cold or something. He didn't sound bad at all. We had a really nice conversation. We always laugh and cut up and carry on, so it was great. It was very nice."
In May of this year, it was reported that Lawler’s WWE contract expired and was not renewed but he still remains under a WWE Legends deal.
Lawler's name has not been brought up as a potential arrival in AEW. His most recent appearance for WWE came as part of a pre-tape for WWE NXT.
