Alexander Hernandez is riding high after picking up his third win in 2025, this time with a vicious second-round knockout to finish Diego Ferreira at Noche UFC.

Competing in his hometown of San Antonio, Hernandez had to show some patience early with Ferreira on the attack but he eventually found his opening with a devastating right hook that put the veteran lightweight down on the canvas. Hernandez followed up with a flurry of punches on the ground with Ferreira finally melting under the weight of the pressure with the referee stopping the fight at 3:46 in the second round.

Hernandez has now won his past four fights in a row with three of those wins coming in 2025.

"It's incredible," Hernandez said about winning in his hometown. "I'll say this, this game is a war of attrition. I've known tremendous failure and I've seen glimpses of great success. Don't you dare count me out.

"I knew I could beat their feet. Create dead space, kill them in it. [Next] crack the top 15, let me get Michael Chandler."

When the fight got started, Ferreira's pressure and pace paid off as he kept Hernandez on his backfoot and continuously found a home for his strikes. Hernandez did a good job avoiding too much damage as he set up his own combinations to return fire.

It was recognizing Ferreira's tendencies and outmaneuvering him on the feet that allowed Hernandez to set up the perfect punch that connected clean and put his opponent down on the canvas. From there, Hernandez just started unloading shots and Ferreira couldn't avoid them forever as he eventually went out from the offensive onslaught.

After a few up and down years in his career, Hernandez has really turned things around lately with four wins in a row after re-establishing himself in the lightweight division following a brief stint at featherweight. It remains to be seen if he'll get an opponent like Chandler next but Hernandez has definitely earned himself a higher ranked opponent after this latest win.
