Brian Ortega made an online troll pay for his trash-talk during a recent Fortnite round.
UFC featherweight contender Brian Ortega has some of the nastiest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on the roster. His career submissions of some of the top featherweights, including Yair Rodriguez and Cub Swanson, are evidence of the danger he presents when fights move to the mat.
Ortega has proven to have little tolerance for trash-talking and more specifically, trolls. Just minutes after falling to Diego Lopes at UFC 306 in September, Ortega attempted to blow past security and confront a heckling fan in the stands.
Luckily, security personnel intervened and cooler heads prevailed, but it showed that Ortega isn’t one to let hecklers and trolls go unanswered.
In addition to his elite fighting prowess, Ortega is an avid gamer and plays a lot of Fortnite during his downtime in between fight camps. He’s accumulated a modest following on gaming platforms and often plays with fight fans online.
But after one of his online allies turned into a heel and verbally jabbed him repeatedly over the headset, Ortega flew across the United States for payback.

In a recent Instagram post, Ortega explained what led up to him choking out a trash-talking gamer.
“People ask me ‘Play with me on Fortnite’, cool cool. The only problem is you guys keep talking mad ‘you know what’,” Ortega said. “So I have an online homie talking mad smack, the real reason why I flew to North Carolina was because he was talking s***. We made a bet, and I said I’ll fly over there and choke you out. And here he is! I showed up!
“I showed up to his damn job and I had to wait for him to finish his job. So now, ‘Imma choke your a** out. A bet’s a bet!”
You can check out the full footage of Ortega’s payback below. Luckily, it appears all parties involved took the choke-out in stride, and Ortega’s online friend wasn’t seriously injured.
Brian Ortega becomes the latest UFC fighter to deal brutal payback to online trolls
Ortega is far from the first former or current UFC fighter to confront his online detractors in person. Ahead of his UFC 289 fight, middleweight Chris Curtis sparred with an online troll to a hilarious outcome.
After falling to Lopes at UFC 306, Ortega is looking to get back into the featherweight title mix by defeating one of the division’s top contenders. He’s lost three of his last four fights overall including a UFC featherweight title defeat to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 266.
Ortega’s online and in-person friends might want to think twice before irking the former UFC title challenger. Or else, they could end up going to sleep involuntarily.
