An MMA fighter has revealed all about sharing a name with pop sensation Taylor Swift.
The 21-year-old prospect dreams about being one of the greatest fighters of all time, but he’s struggling to get people to take him seriously, despite the fact he's amassed an impressive 3-1 amateur record since taking up the sport in 2023.
So annoyed about being mocked by fans, the 6ft lightweight fighter and electrical apprentice considered legally changing his name to stop the trolling.
In the end, Swift decided to shake off the haters and embrace his link to one of the world's most famous pop stars.
Taylor Swift considered name change
Swift recently opened up about what it's like sharing a name with the 'Love Story' singer.
"Even at weigh-ins, people start laughing," he told The Sun.
“The worst part is when the announcer is reading out the names before a fight."
Swift's embarrassment expands beyond his macho career in MMA. Day-to-day interactions with strangers can end up with him being laughed at if he tells them his name.
He added: "People ask if I'm serious when I tell them my name.
"It gets a laugh when I'm going through airport security and on the door at clubs."
Taylor Swift sees the bright side
After previously seeing his name as a hindrance to his MMA career, Swift has now fully embraced it.
Almost 6,000 people follow him on Instagram, including a bunch of Swifties who clicked his profile by accident..
Ultimately, he believes being linked to the 14-time Grammy winner, will help raise his profile as he works his way through the MMA ranks.
“The name will help,” Swift insisted.
“A big part of the sport is about social media and sales. It's hard to become a pro, so everything helps."
Regardless of his ties to the 35-year-old singer, Swift isn’t a fan. In fact, he would struggle to name any of her songs if asked.
"I don't think I could even name three of her songs,” Swift concluded.
