UFC 294 Bonuses: Islam Makhachev cashes in with KO of Alexander Volkanovski

Following Saturday's UFC 294 pay-per-view event, UFC President Dana White announced the bonus award winners.  

Four 'Performance of the Night' bonuses were awarded to Islam Makhachev, Ikram Aliskerov, Said Nurmagomedov, and Muhammad Mokaev.  

Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev knocked out featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski in the UFC 294 main event.  Makhachev connected with a head kick that knocked Volkanovski down.  He finished with punches seconds later.  It was the first time since 2013 that Volkanovski was finished in a fight.  

Ikram Aliskerov earned his bonus in spectacular fashion in his middleweight bout with Warlley Alves.  Midway through the first round, Aliskerov landed a jab following by a flying knee that hurt Alves as he stood along the fence.  He finished with a series of combinations that sat Alves down. 

Muhammad Mokaev put the flyweight division on notice when he tapped out veteran Tim Elliott on the preliminary fight card.  Mokaev caught Elliott in a head and arm choke.  It was Mokaev's fifth consecutive win.   

Said Nurmagomedov only needed 73 seconds to submit Muin Gafurov in the bantamweight bout that kicked off the UFC 294 main card.  The Dagestani has won five of his last six fights and made it look easy on Saturday. 

UFC 294 took place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
