Bo Nickal will face his toughest test so far in the UFC Octagon at UFC 309, as he is set to take on submission specialist Paul Craig in a big fight at middleweight.

Bo Nickal is widely considered a future champion in the middleweight division, and he has the chance to take one step closer to that on November 16 when he takes on the gritty Paul Craig.

With the promotion seemingly attempting to push him into superstardom, the 28-year-old competed on the monumental UFC 300 event this past April, submitting Cody Brundage in the second round.

The Scotsman on the other hand is on a two-fight losing streak, losing his spot in the top 15 of the 185lb rankings.

One bit of criticism the UFC has received for the way they are dealing with Nickal is that the majority of fans believe he is already ready for a fight inside the rankings, and despite Craig’s consistency in the rankings, he is no longer in the top 15.

Reacting to his fight being announced, Nickal commented: “Freedom! Yo, I should roll up with my face painted blue, imagine that he would be like, ‘Dude, that’s my thing man’, and I’d just totally clown on him.

“I’m excited, Paul Craig, big fight at MSG UFC 309, definitely going to be a massive card but yeah, I’m just ready to go, I’m excited and it’s time to go and do my thing,” Nickal said on the Nickals and Dimes Podcast.

In terms of betting odds, Nickal has been one of the most heavily backed fighters in UFC history and for his UFC debut against Jamie Pickett, he entered the cage as a huge -2000 favorite.

According to Nickal’s podcast co-host, he has opened up as a -2000 favorite against the UFC veteran, ‘Bearjew’, which Nickal openly admitted is ‘crazy’.

The middleweight fight between Nickal and Craig isn’t the only fight that was recently announced for the huge event headlined by Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.

Michael Chandler is set to take on Charles Oliveira in a five-round co-main event after deciding he is no longer going to wait for Conor McGregor to return to action, at least for now.

Bo Nickal reveals he ‘can’t see anything’ but has regained some of his eyesight

Despite his sheer dominance throughout college in wrestling, the 26-year-old has revealed that he ‘can’t see anything’ and has always struggled badly with his vision.

“Dude, I can’t see anything, I don’t know if you know that. I literally go through life just rocking out. I can’t do contacts, they mess with my eyes too much… I wore glasses for a long time and then my dog chewed them up.

“I got a new pair and the prescription wasn’t right and then I just said, I’m done, I’m not doing it anymore. My vision got better, I went to the ophthalmologist and I don’t know if they were just being nice but they went, ‘Oh 2020’, and I was like, what? Yeah, I have 2020 vision (now),” Nickal added.

The American isn’t the only UFC fighter who struggles with his vision as fellow middleweight contender, Caio Borralho has popularised glasses with his Fighting Nerds teammates.
