Shara Magomedov has made his pick for the middleweight title winner in the rematch between Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland at UFC 312.

The result of Du Plessis vs. Strickland is very much in Magomedov’s interest, as he is quickly being fast-tracked by the UFC.

Despite Khamzat Chimaev being earmarked for title contention next, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Magomedov gets the shot on the back of a Chimaev cancellation or a lackluster performance from Israel Adesanya vs. Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Saudi Arabia.

After all, flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja has now had back-to-back title defenses against fighters outside the top five, including the unranked Kai Asakura, a former RIZIN champion.

Shara Bullet picks Sean Strickland to upset Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312

Magomedov believes Strickland will cause the upset in the rematch to become a two-time UFC champion.

“You know it doesn’t matter to me who wins,” Magomedov told Michael Bisping on YouTube. “Because I think I can be a great fight for both of them. I just feel that this time around, Strickland’s gonna win.”

Shara Bullet scored one of a kind knockout to secure MVP fight

Magomedov gears up for an all-action affair with Michael ‘Venom’ Page at UFC Saudi Arabia on February 1, and he’s willing to fight whoever it takes to challenge the middleweight throne. To get to this point, ‘Magomedov won three UFC contests, one by never-before-seen knockout.

‘Bullet’ came up against Armen Petrosyan at UFC 308, an experienced kickboxer who had fought stiff competition in the Octagon. ‘Superman’ was expected to give Magomedov his toughest test to date; as a tall striker with relatively improved endurance, he was undoubtedly a step up from Michal Oleksiejczuk.

It was one of Magomedov’s easier fights, as the two kickboxers traded shots on the feet until Magomedov knocked out Petrosyan with a double-spinning backfist. The win earned Magomedov his third performance bonus in a row, so now he co-headlines a high-profile card against a high-value fighter in ‘MVP.’
