Ahead of Sean Strickland’s title fight rematch against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312, he has gone on a verbal tear at the rest of the middleweight division.

Sean Strickland has always been one of, if not the most outspoken fighter on the entire UFC roster and that has led to him being one of the most popular fighters in the sport.

With that popularity, Strickland has seemingly been given preferential treatment from the promotion as he has been given another middleweight title shot against Dricus Du Plessis despite only having picked up one win since his loss to ‘Stillknocks’.

Ahead of their UFC 312 clash, in typical Strickland fashion, he has been trading verbal spats with Du Plessis and even offered him a gentleman’s agreement pact.

Sean Strickland calls Robert Whittaker ‘a can’ whilst shredding Khamzat Chimaev

The majority of the UFC fanbase expected that Khamzat Chimaev would be awarded the next 185lb title shot following his extremely impressive first-round submission win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308.

Despite that, UFC boss Dana White promised Strickland the title shot and that led to an online feud between ‘Tarzan’ and Chimaev.

With that, the former middleweight champion has taken another shot at ‘Borz’, claiming that his win over Whittaker wasn’t as impressive as it was made out to be.

“He went hard and he fought a f****** guy who came out really f****** flat and doesn’t give a f***,” Strickland told MMAJunkie.

“Rob is known to either be a f****** superstar or a f****** can, and he was a f****** can (against Chimaev). He was just met with too much pressure. After I’m done with Chimaev he’s gonna go back to peddling Crypto scams,” he continued.

Although the 33-year-old has slammed Chimaev’s win over ‘The Reaper’, Whittaker is a former champion and Strickland’s only win since his title loss came against Paulo Costa, who is 1-4 in his last five fights.

“Can Chimaev fight? Yeah. He can fight. But you’re not a f****** man. I know you’re not a man. You know you’re not a man. The whole world knows you’re not a man,” Strickland said.

Khamzat Chimaev will fight the winner of the UFC 312 main event

Not only did the majority of the fanbase want to see Du Plessis vs Chimaev next but even ‘Stillknocks’ admitted that he wanted to fight Chimaev instead of Strickland.

Fortunately, though, Chimaev now has an ongoing feud with both fighters and White has promised that the Chechen will fight the winner of the UFC 312 main event.

Bizarrely, Chimaev and Strickland used to train together at Xtreme Couture, and head coach, Eric Nicksick believes the two could be playing on their rivalry and secretly making it seem worse than it is to build up the hype.
