Megabucks! $250 Million Purses 'Set' For McGregor Vs. Paul

Conor McGregor's own MMA news site says 'The Notorious' is set to earn a $250 million purse in India. But can a deal with UFC to allow the fight be reached?
Conor McGregor is 'set' to make $250 million to box Logan Paul next year in India, according to McGregor's own news site 'The Mac Life.'
McGregor started TheMacLife.com eight years ago as his own MMA news site, and he's used it at various points to push his own agenda and stories — which is pretty standard rich person stuff. Jeff Bezos does it too, just through The Washington Post, not TheBezosWay.net.
Now TheMacLife.com is reporting details on the potential big money Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul fight in India.
Conor McGregor and Logan Paul are to feature as part of a historic "Visit India" tourism campaign as the pair clash in Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium.

"The McGregor vs. Paul bout will be hosted by India's royal Ambani family and will take place in the historic, 33,000-capacity Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on India's west coast as part of the South Asian country's 'Visit India' tourism campaign," staff writer John Balfe wrote. "According to reports, both McGregor and Paul are to be paid a sum in the region of $250 million for the fight."
Mukesh Ambani is worth over $100 billion and recently spent over $200 million on his son Anant's wedding. TheMacLife.com name-dropped Anant as the one behind this next big reputation-raising extravaganza.
"Anant Ambani, Mukesh Ambani's son, is also said to view the contest as a foundation from which to establish India as a major player in the combat sports world," the article read. "And rival traditional venues in Las Vegas and more recently, Saudi Arabia."
Sources have told MMAMania.com that Conor McGregor is locked in on making this match happen whether he has UFC support or not. This is a similar situation to the Floyd Mayweather fight, which McGregor had to initially maneuver Dana White into allowing. That's why we find it so interesting that McGregor's own outlet is the one pushing news about this potential fight. Conor is attempting to force another fight (and nine-figure payday) into existence.
The UFC took a massive chunk of McGregor's reported $100 million+ paycheck when he boxed Floyd Mayweather, reported to be between 30% to 50%. We expect they'd be looking for a similar chunk here, and McGregor has shown he's willing to share the pot if given clearance to fight.
But things have only gotten more complicated between UFC and their biggest star over the years. The UFC refused to fight McGregor through the pandemic when they were unable to sell tickets, and have been frustratingly slow to offer him fights since he healed up from a badly broken leg. Now that he has just two fights left on his UFC contract, movement on bookings has become glacial. UFC CEO White recently suggested McGregor wouldn't fight in the UFC again until late 2025.
UFC is playing hardball to try and keep him in the fold, but McGregor rightfully understands the earning potential for the last years of his career is in the billion dollar range if he leaves. That's the context under which negotiations for this McGregor vs. Paul fight is taking place.
Will it come together? "The Notorious" is doing everything he can to ensure it does. Now we have to see if the UFC goes along or fights him on it.
