‘Blessed’ would like to see the UFC’s light heavyweight champion receive superstar treatment.
Heading into UFC 303 last year, Max Holloway stated that he thinks the UFC should go that extra mile to put one of their current stars on a pedestal.
We have seen some unprecedented accomplishments inside the Octagon since Alex Pereira debuted with the promotion in 2021.
Not only has he delivered spectacular performances under the brightest lights, but the Brazilian has proven himself to be someone that the UFC can bank on with the fans loving everything Pereira does.
Pereira is now set to return at UFC 313 to defend his title against Magomed Ankalaev with Holloway previously saying that the champ deserves an even more elaborate introduction than usual.

Max Holloway calls for Alex Pereira to be announced as ‘The One, The Only’
Alex Pereira does a great job of sending shivers up the spine of every fight fan whether it’s his instantly iconic walk out or his thousand yard stare.
Whilst Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer doesn’t need to change what he does, when it comes to the biggest names in the sport like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor, he does tend to add a little extra spice into the mix.
Adding ‘The One, The Only’ into his fighter introductions may not feel like a big change but it would put Pereira on that same level as the likes of Jones and McGregor.
After what he has done for the promotion in recent times, it feels like the least that the MMA leader could do to show Pereira some additional appreciation.
Max Holloway made this case during a preview video on his YouTube channel ahead of International Fight Week last year where after competing at UFC 300, he made the turnaround to headline UFC 303 when the promotion needed a new main event.
Whilst Buffer is yet to add this extra line in when announcing ‘Poatan’ at this time, UFC 313 on March 8 in Las Vegas is another opportunity to further cement the light heavyweight champion at the very top.
“All respect to Pereira man, what is this his second or third short notice fight? Jumping in there, saving the day for UFC once again. The man, the myth, the legend. I think Bruce Buffer should announce Alex Pereira as, ‘The One, The Only’. He’s one of the men that deserve it.”
Fans split on Max Holloway’s Alex Pereira request
The debate over whether the UFC should listen to Max Holloway’s point about Alex Pereira was recently brought back into focus when ESPN MMA shared the quote from ‘Blessed’ on Instagram.
In the replies to the post, some fight fans were split on whether ‘Poatan’ has done enough to earn this right considering that only the consensus greatest of all time and the biggest star in the history of the sport have held this title.
“Love Alex but not yet. If Jon jones qualified for it after almost a decade Alex gotta wait to. Only ones it makes sense for is Conor and Jon atm,” Said one user.
“‘ItS oNlY bEeN 3 yEaRs’ WE LITERALLY WATCHED HIM SPEEDRUN TO A HOF CAREER,” Argued another.
Regardless of whether Pereira gets this specialist treatment or not, there’s no denying that he has become a UFC icon in just a few years.
