Khabib Nurmagomedov is using his MMA millions to look after the people closest to him.
The former UFC lightweight champion proved that money is not an issue for him when he retired from fighting after choking out Justin Gaethje in October 2020, despite the fact he had several high-paying fights left in him at 32 years old.
Even a $100 million clash with Floyd Mayweather couldn’t convince him to return to combat sports.
Now he’s an elite-level MMA coach who has helped three of his teammates win world titles in the UFC, PFL, and Bellator.
Khabib Nurmagomedov buys old coach new home
Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s generosity became clear when he bought Shara Magomedov an expensive watch when they met in Dubai years after ‘Bullet’ was kicked out of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s gym due to his haircut.
More recently, ‘The Eagle’ made an even more extravagant purchase for his coach, Javier Mendez.
The American Kickboxing Academy [AKA] founder helped Nurmagomedov reach the top of MMA, whilst also guiding the careers of Islam Makhachev, Daniel Cormier, Cain Velasquez, and Luke Rockhold.
Now, Mendez has been rewarded for his hard work with a ‘swanky’ new apartment in Dubai.
At the start of his latest podcast, Mendez’s co-host thanked the AKA boss for improving his lighting by moving homes.
“Javier's got a swanky new place with great lighting finally,” he said. “These podcasts are going to get ten times more views. Thank you for fixing the setup, that's all I'm going to say.”
Mendez chuckled as he replied: “Thank Khabib, he got me a new apartment.”
Will Khabib Nurmagomedov ever fight again?
The Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor rivalry has been heating up again in recent weeks.
‘Notorious’ is currently looking for a comeback opponent after being sidelined from MMA since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021.
However, it’s safe to say that Conor McGregor will not get the chance to avenge his UFC 229 loss to Nurmagomedov.
The 29-0 Russian phenom provided a definitive update in response to comeback rumors in October 2024.
"There is no chance, none. Not even 1%, minus [chance],” Nurmagomedov said.
"If you guys need champions, I'm helping my brothers to become champions… We have Islam [Makhachev] as a champion, we have Umar [Nurmagomedov] as the next contender, we have Usman [Nurmagomedov] as champion – we have a lot of champions.
"You guys are never going to miss me because in our team and our gym, we create champions – you guys are always going to have champions, don't worry."
