Aleksandre Topuria believes he can beat Ilia Topuria

In a breathtaking performance, at UFC 298, Ilia Topuria detonated a thunderous right hand on the jaw of Alexander Volkanovski to cement his place as the greatest featherweight on the planet.

The statement sent shockwaves through the division, with many now expecting the Georgian-Spanish fighter’s star power to continue to ascend on an upward trajectory until he earns a blockbuster showdown at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

However, to earn this chance, he’ll first have to beat the BMF title holder, Max Holloway, who will aim to rip the featherweight belt away from Topuria at UFC 308 on October 26, 2024, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

But the Hawaiian isn’t the only man who believes he can beat the 145-pound King, with the champion’s own sibling stating that he could pull off a victory.

During a video posted on El Matador’s YouTube channel, Aleksandre Topuria was hooked up to a lie detector test and put in a very interesting scenario.

His brother asked: “The first question: You and I in an octagon, do you think you would beat me?”

After taking a moment to think, the prospect answered in the affirmative, saying: “The question is quite deep. If you had to be my opponent one day, I would have no doubt that I would beat you.”

Somewhat amused by the answer, Topuria replied: “But with a motorcycle helmet?”

His brother chuckled along with the joke before emphasizing: “Yes, I would beat you.”

Intrigued to find out whether Aleksandre was lying, the pound-for-pound star asked the woman conducting the test: “Tell me, is he telling the truth?” The up-and-comer beamed: “Vamos”

His optimism was well-founded as the woman confirmed: “The polygraph test says he’s telling the truth.”

Surprised, the featherweight star, said: “Look at him, I like that confidence.”

Max Holloway says Ilia Topuria beating Alexander Volkanovski won’t matter at UFC 308

In three rolls of the dice, Holloway failed to pick up a victory over Volkanovski, with the Aussie walking away with the gold every single time they fought.

Yet, Topuria only needed one shot to knock ‘The Great’ old cold and bag the victory.

Completely aware of what the new champion is bringing to the table, ‘Blessed’ praises the 27-year-old for his achievements.

However, he explained why past results will have no bearing on what will happen when they set foot in the ring and square-off with each other.
