Lucas Browne has sparred Tyson Fury and gone head-to-head with Dillian Whyte, but he claims nobody hit him harder than a UFC icon.
The Australian sensation couldn’t quite believe how much power the MMA veteran packed in his punches.
Lucas Browne says Mark Hunt punched harder than anyone else
At the peak of his powers, Lucas Browne had dynamite in his hands, once traveling to Chechnya, Russia, to knock out Ruslan Chagaev to claim the WBA regular world heavyweight championship.
During his career, the Aussie made a reputation for his power, with former Mike Tyson trainer, Jeff Fenech, claiming he ‘hit harder’ than ‘Iron Mike’ himself.
However, he received a taste of his own medicine, when he went to spar with Mark Hunt.
While not a traditional practitioner of the ‘sweet science’, ‘The Super Samoan’, had formidable striking skills, honed through his K1 World Grand Prix victory, giving him all the tools necessary to detonate ferocious shots on anyone who dared trade punches with him.
Sheesh: 'He hit like a truck'… Khabib Nurmagomedov claims UFC legend hit harder than anyone else
In an interview on the David ‘White Rhino’ Allen, YouTube channel, the Australian said: “I shared the ring with Mark Hunt. I hit him with everything, and he looked at me and smiled, then he went ‘Bang’.
“He hit me the hardest I’ve ever been hit in my life.”
When the host asked if he was even more powerful than Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte, the retired boxer, replied: “Without a doubt, he hit me in the forehead, and I went, ‘Wow’.”
Tyson Fury says there’s a heavyweight more talented than Oleksandr Usyk and him
While Fury may not have hit Browne as hard as Hunt, ‘The Gypsy King’ still made a lasting impression, with the Sydney brawler claiming the former champion was throwing ‘spinning back elbows’ during their sparring session.
Standing at 6ft9, the Brit simply shouldn’t be able to move how he does, with his illusive style causing problems for nearly everyone who’s dared set foot in the ring with him.
However, in his last outing, against Oleksandr Usyk, a combination of the Ukrainian’s brilliance, and his own body catching up with him, resulted in the first official loss of his career.
Therefore, on December 21, the rivals will run it back, to see whether Fury can reclaim the belt. But regardless, the pair’s time at the top of the sport could be coming to an end, with the Englishman claiming there’s a fighter out there, more talented than both of them.
