Having been inactive from fighting for over three years, Conor McGregor has revealed that he is in ‘preliminary agreements’ to face influencer boxer turned WWE superstar, Logan Paul.

Conor McGregor‘s last fight in the UFC Octagon ended extremely unfortunately when he broke his leg in the first round against Dustin Poirier.

Since then, ‘The Notorious’ has been out of action and he was scheduled for a return to the Octagon earlier this June to take on Michael Chandler but a broken toe ruled him out of the bout.

Conor McGregor announces he is in talks to box Logan Paul

Having spent so much time on the sidelines, fans are skeptical that the former UFC double champion will ever return, however, earlier this week rumors circulated that he would return to fight current featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria.

‘El Matador’ has become one of the promotion’s biggest stars after scoring back-to-back knockouts over arguably the two greatest featherweights of all time, Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway.

Topuria and McGregor have previously shared words online, which led fans to believe a fight between them could happen in the future.

Despite that, the Irishman has shut down claims that he is in talks to fight the Spaniard and has shockingly revealed that he is in ‘preliminary agreements’ to fight Logan Paul in the boxing ring.

“The rumors of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon,” McGregor announced in a tweet on X.

Mukesh Ambani is an Indian businessman who is currently the 9th richest person in the world and currently the richest person in Asia.

McGregor somewhat started the entire trend of crossover boxing when he fought Floyd Mayweather in the ring back in 2017, in what was the biggest fight in combat sports history.

‘The Maverick’ Paul is currently a big star in the WWE and has fought inside the boxing ring three times. In 2021, he also shared the ring with Mayweather during an exhibition fight at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Paul has also boxed McGregor’s former teammate, Dillon Danis, beginning what went on to be a huge feud between the two with Paul picking up the disqualification win.

Despite that, it’s his brother, Jake Paul, who has become the more well-known star in boxing, and ‘The Problem Child’ has previously called McGregor out for fights on several occasions.

When will Conor McGregor return to the UFC?

Following UFC Tampa this past Saturday, UFC CEO Dana White teased that he is working on something huge that will blow the minds of fans.

However, following McGregor’s announcement, it is unlikely that the UFC boss was referring to something to do with the Irishman.

With that, White expects that the 36-year-old could return to the Octagon in 2025 with there not being a clear opponent for him as of yet.
