Aaron Aby returns to action at Oktagon 69, where he will face Mohammed Walid in the prelims. The Welshman’s story is one of inspiration. The North West Fight Academy overcame a battle with Testicular cancer and has now become one of the most respected veterans on the UK MMA scene.
Aaron Aby
In 2023, Aaron Aby signed with OktagonMMA and fought for the vacant flyweight title against Elias Garcia. The fight was stopped due to a cut above the Welshman’s eye. Aby earned his second shot at the Flyweight title when he defeated Christopher Daniel at Oktagon 52. In his second shot at the title, Aby came up short, losing to Sam Creasey.
With the title changing hands once again, with Beno Adamia defeating Sam Creasey in February, a win over Mohammed Walid at Oktagon 69, could earn Aaron Aby a third shot at a title. However, you cannot overlook Mohammed Walid as an opponent, “No Mercy” boats a respectable 7-4 record, with a 100% finish rate. Walid fights out of Dortmund, Germany, which is where this fight is taking place, so Aby will have to play the role of the bad guy on Saturday night. Walid makes his promotional debut on Saturday night.
When LowkickMMA interviewed Aaron Aby before his loss to Zhalgas Zhumagulov, Aby shared a quote that truly represents him: “Fighting’s Like Life, Life’s Like Fighting”. Everything Aaron Aby has accomplished in his career, came because he won a much more important fight, the fight for his life. Aby doesn’t just have a fighting spirit when he is locked in the cage, he lives with a fighting spirit.
