From Rory to Seve: four astonishing revelations from the DP World Tour career money list

The money floating around the world of elite professional golf is now quite eye watering.
The PGA Tour's Signature Events carry a prize fund of £20 million, the Players Championship is $25 million and the FedEx Cup features an overall pool of $100 million.
The DP World Tour has plenty of Euros to scrap over, too.
The Rolex Series events – the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, Genesis Scottish Open, BMW PGA Championship and Abu Dhabi Championship – are worth €9 million and the Race to Dubai finale, the DP World Tour Championship, is worth €10 million.
It all makes a glance at the DP World Tour career money list quite a fascinating prospect.
Here are four truly astounding realisations from just such a glance.
1. Rory McIlroy leads by a huge margin
It is, of course, no surprise that Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy leads the list.
His career has taken place entirely in its richest years and he has won 18 times.
Moreover, four of those wins were majors, three were the lucrative DP World Championship, four were the Dubai Desert Classic, three were World Golf Championship events and he's also landed the BMW PGA Championship.
His total winnings amount to a remarkable €60,237,119.03.
But what is even more amazing is that Lee Westwood is second with €38,825,014.17.
That means McIlroy has on-course winnings that are greater than one and half times the man in second.
2. Who has beaten Seve's total?
Severiano Ballesteros is the golfer who led Europe into golfing battle across the world as well as in the Ryder Cup.
The DP World Tour would unquestionably be lesser without his influence.
But things have changed since he was supreme so who has overtaken him in the earnings?
Make sure you're sitting down because this one stings a bit.
Seve won €5,061,633.76, a figure that leaves him ranked 157th.
Sweden's Peter Hedblom, now a commentator, is one place ahead of him.
France's Benjamin Hebert – who hasn't won once on the main tour – is five spots ahead of him.
Aussie Jason Scrivener – another non-winner – is 14 spots ahead of him (and one ahead of another tour legend, Sam Torrance).
Wow.
3. Which of these Englishmen has won most – Sir Nick Faldo or David Horsey?
Yes, of course, it's Horsey.
Faldo won 30 times putting him fifth in the all-time list. In money terms he won €6,809,789.94.
Horsey is no mug but he's no Nick Faldo either.
But his four wins and various other results earned him €7,598,880.77.
4. Who has earned the most without winning?
There will be some who mock the winner of this title, but that's not the aim really.
The ability to stay out on tour, playing well enough to amass money, is not to be sniffed at.
And David Drysdale of Scotland had that staying power.
He ranked 125th on €6,142,591.64.
Mike Lorenzo Vera and Matthew Southgate are close behind him.
