Pivotal Moment For Boxing Comes At Canelo vs Scull NY Face Off

A big moment for the sport came where one organization’s belt was told to not be involved in the fighter photo op.

When Canelo Alvarez and William Scull faced off a short time ago, at one point the WBC belt (World Boxing Council) was brought over from a handler to Alvarez before Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh shook his head to make sure the belt was not included in the photo opportunities.

Instead he stood in between the two boxers with the other belts, the BMF belt and the Ring Magazine belt.

A key moment in the sport when you consider this week that Turki Alalshikh and Dana White announced their new UFC of boxing league and promotion in the sport.

Some think that the rankings in the new league for boxing maybe will use the Ring Magazine rankings for the main champions in the sport.

Boxing is changing and much so for the better.

How the traditional belt organizations like the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO will feature in the new and improved boxing remains to be seen.
