UFC flyweight veteran suspended 1 year for failed drug test |

UFC veteran Maryna Moroz has been handed a one-year suspension following notification for a failed drug test this past July.

On Tuesday, Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), the UFC's official drug-testing partner, announced Moroz's suspension, which stems from a positive test for meldonium, a year-round prohibited substance. Moroz actually failed two drug tests, one from a June 25 sample and one from July 16, but was not notified of the first failed test prior to the July test.

According to the released statement, Moroz was negligent in informing the UFC of her use of meldonium and failed to apply for a therapeutic use exemption which would have possibly allowed her to include it in her supplement routine. However, Moroz did not have any bouts scheduled during the time of her drug tests and was cooperative with CSAD during their investigation of her positive test. As a result, her suspension was reduced by one year from the standard two-year suspension for meldonium and she is eligible to compete again on July 17, 2026.

Moroz, 33, has not fought since March 2024. The veteran flyweight is currently on a three-fight skid, most recently losing a split decision to Joanne Wood at UFC 299. She holds an 11-6 record as a pro, with a 6-6 mark under the UFC banner.
