Cynthia Calvillo is calling it a career.
The 13-fight UFC veteran announced on her Instagram account Monday that she's retiring from competition. Calvillo ends her pro career with a 10-6-1 record, including a 6-6-1 run in the UFC, which took place from 2017-2024.
"t's time to say goodbye to a sport that I gave everything to and that I loved so much," Calvillo wrote. "I wasn't ready to let it go just yet but life and opportunities that fizzled out has led me to pursue the next chapter in my life. I just want to say thank you to every single person that helped me live this crazy dream of mine. To all the coaches that believed in me and spent countless hours making me the best I could I be, y'all don't know how much it means to me. To the UFC, Dana White [and matchmakers], thanks for letting this little girl from East Side San Jose live her dream! It was f*cking dope being a superhero!"
Calvillo went 6-1-1 to begin her UFC run, but then things took a turn when she went on a five-fight losing streak, which included back-to-back split decision losses to Nina Nunes and Loopy Godinez in her final octagon outings. The UFC opted to give Calvillo one last shot at UFC Vegas 90 in April 2024, but she missed weight, and was subsequently released from the promotion.
The 38-year-old competed one more time at HEX Fight Series 32 this past September and earned a unanimous decision victory over Lisa Kyriacou.
