Shelton Benjamin Feels Betrayed By Vince McMahon, Julia Hart Talks AEW Return

During a recent appearance on the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, Shelton Benjamin commented on The Hurt Business being disbanded by WWE and why he feels like it was the ultimate betrayal.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On how WWE disbanded The Hurt Business: "Things were going extremely well over in WWE — and I like to say this because people say WWE. Not WWE, Vince [McMahon], for whatever reason, he decided that the money was with Bobby and MVP as his manager and he was just done with it, the Hurt Business. We never gotten a straight answer as to why. When I initially got the news, I went to Vince and was like — I'd been there for a few years with nothing happened and I was like, I finally have something that we can actually work with and elevate me that benefits the company, especially during the pandemic era because in my opinion, the Hurt Business and Roman Reigns carried WWE during the pandemic era."
On how splitting up the group felt like a betrayal: "I felt a bit betrayed because I come here every week, I never complain, I risk my life just like everybody else. When other people wanted to stay home, you never had to question whether or not I'd come to work. So, for us to bear that burden — and mind you, obviously we're not the only ones. We're not the only people, but the fact that we were always willing and we were actually producing, for you to just immediately turn around and just kill it, what the fuck man? His comment to me was, 'We've gone as far as we can with the Hurt Business.'"
On how nothing he could do for Vince McMahon could work: "The Hurt Business was around for eight months before he pulled the plug. When he said that, it was almost like you want to cry inside because nothing I can do for this person seems to help. Nothing's good enough. I knew then, I don't really have a future here. At this point, this is just a job where I'm just collecting a check. I want to care, I've never been a guy who wants to just sit on the bench and ride the wave that everyone else has created. I want to lead the charge, be the momentum behind the machine. I was like, 'He's just never gonna let that happen.'"
During a recent interview with “The Takedown” on SI.com, AEW wrestler Julia Hart commented on her recent return to the ring after her injury layoff that put her on the shelf for most of 2024.
You can check out some highlights from the interview below:
On how she feels physically right now: "I feel fine. I didn't even think about my shoulder with the match with Jamie. I had a torn labrum in my right shoulder, and I didn't even think about it in the match. I was just so focused on beating up Jamie. If anything, my back hurt, but that was nothing to do with my shoulder, so I felt really good."
On her injury rehab: "I think I just was doing the best that I could. I actually was pretty healthy at the end of September. I was almost 100%. I wasn't back to full strength, but mobility-wise, I was pretty good. But I think it was better that I took more time just to relax and to make sure I was 1000% than just hopping back in right away in September because that would have only been three months out. I'm lucky that I'm young and I fixed it now instead of down the line, have more problems. So yeah, I just worked really hard to get that strength back up and have mobility, and it paid off. I'm glad I took more time than I needed so I was I00%."
On how it felt to return to the ring: "It felt so good. I think the one thing I craved the most was the adrenaline right before you go out. That was definitely the one thing I was dreaming about coming back. Right before the music hits, you feel like you're gonna throw up, and then you get out there and it's this whoosh of emotions, and you're just so excited. The day I came back, I think you could tell I was trying so hard not to smile, but I was so happy just to be back in the ring. It was great."
