On the September 9th episode of Monday Night RAW, WWE announced that the flagship show would return to a two-hour format from October 7th until the end of the year.

This marks the first time WWE RAW has run at two hours since it switched to the three-hour format with the 1,000th episode on July 23, 2012.

Despite the Netflix deal not taking effect until January 2025, WWE reached an agreement with USA to extend RAW's run on the network after the original deal was set to expire this month.

Dave Meltzer previously reported that when RAW moves to Netflix in January 2025, it will once again become a three-hour show.

Now, Pwinsider has shared an update on the format change starting in October.

WWE reportedly agreed to a temporary two-hour broadcast change with USA Network to air RAW from October to December 2024. Since RAW won’t be moving to Netflix until January 2025, WWE needed a short-term broadcasting solution for the final quarter of this year.

WWE’s main focus was to keep presenting RAW weekly until the end of 2024. The revenue from the temporary USA Network deal was reportedly not as significant as the upcoming deal with Netflix for RAW’s streaming rights.

As a result, RAW will continue its weekly broadcasts until it moves to Netflix in January. Moreover, WWE aimed to maintain a positive partnership with USA Network, as SmackDown will also be moving to the network the following month.

According to the report, it is unclear whether WWE plans to return to a three-hour format when RAW moves to Netflix.

Some individuals within WWE have been vague when discussing the Netflix move, while others have indicated that the company will be flexible with RAW’s duration depending on weekly requirements.

WWE RAW will continue its two-hour format until its USA Network finale on December 30 before moving to Netflix on January 5, 2025.
