AEW wrestler Mike Bennett has opened up about his personal struggles during his time with WWE, and the progress he’s made since then.
Bennett joined WWE in 2017 alongside his wife Maria who had previously been with the promotion. The pair were among those released in April 2020.
On Twitter, Bennett responded to a fan who argued that Mike didn’t go as far in WWE as many believed he would.
I was addicted to pain killers when I got to WWE. I let myself and everyone else down. It's not a matter of who's right and who's wrong. It was a matter of me not living up to my full potential and fucking up, royally.
That being said I'm incredibly grateful that happened.… https://t.co/gJdS36QKEr— Mike Bennett (@RealMikeBennett) September 20, 2024
After WWE, Bennett returned to the independents and Ring of Honor before debuting in AEW on the October 14, 2022 edition of Rampage.
Bennett currently competes as part of the Undisputed Kingdom and has held the ROH World Tag Team Championships with Matt Taven.
