Winning the ROH World title is a special moment for any star in the promotion, and that was certainly the case for Mark Briscoe this year.
Briscoe won the gold at Supercard of Honor in April of this year, eleven years to the date that his brother Jay won the gold.
In a recent interview with “Foundation Radio,” Briscoe reflected on his win and why it was truly special to him. He said,
“I think sometimes people throw around the word ‘special,’ like special moments. ‘Oh that was so special.’ [Winning the ROH World Championship] was a legit special moment. It was legit like just how everything lined up 11 years to the day of when my brother won the title, in the city of Philadelphia where Ring of Honor started, [and on] the biggest wrestling weekend of the year.
“To be so close to home, I got dozens of friends and family that just drove two hours up the road. It was a really cool, once-in-a-lifetime moment; it’s something that I always cherish.”
Briscoe’s reign saw him retain against Kyle Fletcher, Roderick Strong, Johnny TV, The Beast Mortos, and Matt Taven.
Briscoe’s reign ended on last week’s AEW Dynamite, as Chris Jericho defeated him in the ‘Ladder War’ with an assist from Big Bill.
