One Of Each: Interesting Notes On Surprises At This Week's NXT

Two different kinds. There are several wrestling shows every week and many of them feature things that you might expect to see on a regular basis. It is a rare instance when a surprise takes place but every so often you will see something that comes out of nowhere. That was the case this week and it turns out that there were two surprises, though they were treated in different ways.

This week’s NXT featured a pair of surprise appearances. First, the Bloodline interfered in the Tag Team Title match, attacking both the Street Profits and later Axiom and Nathan Frazier. Later, TNA’s Hammerstone answered an open challenge by North American Champion Oba Femi. According to Fightful Select, the Bloodline was kept a secret throughout the taping to make them a surprise. Hammerstone on the other hand was seen rehearsing his match in plain view before the show came on the air. There is nothing to suggest that they will be making regular appearances in NXT.

Opinion: That’s quite the different way to go, though the Bloodline showing up was the bigger of the two surprises. What matters is the show felt much more important than the usual run of the mill edition and a lot of that was due to these two moments. You had a bunch of people the fans didn’t expect and that made the show feel that much more exciting, which was quite the win.
