Good Reputation: Details On Ronda Rousey's Ring Of Honor Appearance And Wrestling Future

It’s complicated. There are certain times in wrestling when things are more complicated than they see. You can see a variety of things that might not make sense on paper but there are reasons going on behind the scenes that clear things up. That appears to be the situation again this week, as a top start wrestled in a match you might not have expected but for a specific reason.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:WATCH: Tag Team Seems To Split This Week On SmackDown

This week, Ronda Rousey wrestled on Ring Of Honor, teaming with Marina Shafir to defeat Athena and Billie Starkz. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the match was a one off despite teases of Rousey challenging Athena for the Ring Of Honor Women’s Title. Rousey was believed to want to team with Shafir before having another child, though AEW President Tony Khan has said he is interested in working with Rousey in the future. No one at Ring Of Honor knew Rousey would be wrestling until she was in the dressing room. It is not clear why the match took place for Ring Of Honor and not AEW.

The match was also a rematch from a Pro Wrestling Revolver match in Los Angeles earlier in the week, which also took place in Los Angeles. Khan is said to have been skeptical about having the match take place so soon to Full Gear in Los Angeles but ultimately agreed. The Revolver match intentionally ended in a disqualification for the sake of setting up the Ring Of Honor rematch. Jon Moxley is believed to have help it come together as he is close to Revolver owner Sami Callihan.

It was a big deal. Check out Rousey in Ring Of Honor:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes for an interesting situation, but it’s still a bit weird to not have Rousey’s match promoted that much more. She is the biggest star to appear in Ring Of Honor in a good while but other than an Instagram post, no mention was made of her appearance. For now though, it’s better than nothing and at least the match went rather well.
