Charlotte Flair is finally opening up about her painful divorce from Andrade El Idolo—and the WWE Royal Rumble winner didn't hold back about how deeply it affected her both personally and professionally.
In a tearful sit-down with Sherri Shepherd on the Sherri show, Flair—real name Ashley Fliehr—revealed just how difficult the split was while also battling a brutal injury. Shepherd asked how she handled her breakup with Andrade while trying to rehab her torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus. Her response was blunt.
"I didn't," she said, before pausing to gather herself. "I felt like I was failing at my job. I felt like I was failing at my personal life."
After composing herself, she explained how deeply the decision weighed on her. “When I made the decision to file for divorce,” she said, “the only thing I kept thinking was I just didn't want anyone to know.” Flair added, "Oh, my gosh, I have failed again."
Flair and Andrade—real name Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza—began dating in 2019. They got engaged in 2020 and tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Mexico in 2022. By June 2024, Charlotte filed for divorce, and it was finalized by October.
While the couple never publicly addressed the reason for their split, fans had long speculated something was wrong. Flair stopped posting photos of Andrade on social media, and the two unfollowed each other in 2023. Even Ric Flair unfollowed Andrade, and Charlotte removed the diamond ring emoji from her bio—fueling months of speculation before the official news broke.
Adding to the emotional toll was her career-threatening injury suffered during a match against Asuka in December 2023. The injury forced her out of action for over a year, sidelining one of WWE's biggest stars. But she made a shocking return at the 2025 Women's Royal Rumble, not only competing but winning the match and securing her ticket to WrestleMania 41.
Despite the career resurgence, the emotional weight of the divorce still lingered. “Days after winning the Royal Rumble, my divorce became public, and I went into a dark place again,” Flair said.
But she's turning the corner—and she made it clear that she's proud of how far she's come. “This is my biggest comeback yet,” she told Sherri.
Now back in the title picture and possibly on track for another championship run at WrestleMania, Charlotte Flair is showing that heartbreak doesn't have to define you—it can fuel you.
