03/12/2025 05:32 PM
The three finals of the 2025 WPBSA Q Tour Global Play-Offs are now confirmed following the second day of action in Antalya, Türkiye.
Six players from three countries remain in contention for the trio of two-year World Snooker Tour (WST) tour cards which will be on offer on Thursday.
The players will contest three best-of-19 frame final round matches with the winner of each earning their place among the professional ranks for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 campaigns.
HALLWORTH v JOYCE
Steven Hallworth and Mark Joyce will meet in an all-English final of the first Q Tour Global Play-Off after the two former professionals comfortably came through their semi-final encounters.
Joyce hit the headlines by compiling the fourth maximum break in Q Tour history in the third frame of his match against Wales’ Dylan Emery.
Emery, who was the top seed from the Q Tour Europe series heading into the Global Play-Offs, made a strong start and stormed into a 2-0 lead with help from a break of 120 in the opener.
The moment of perfection from Joyce saw him get his first frame on the board and, from there, the 41-year-old stepped up a gear as further contributions of 111 and 67 helped him to win six frames on the bounce and book his place in the final.
Former ranking event semi-finalist Hallworth was in dominant form in the other semi-final as he charged into a 5-0 lead over fellow countryman Ryan Davies.
The 22-year-old managed to take the sixth frame to avoid to whitewash, but it proved to be too little too late as Hallworth took the next to get over the line and set up a meeting with Joyce tomorrow.
HIGHFIELD v BOIKO
The second Q Tour Global Play-Off will see two former professionals compete for a return to the World Snooker Tour as England’s Liam Highfield meets Ukraine’s Iulian Boiko.
Highfield, who fell off the main tour last year after a 14-year spell, has dropped just three frames so far this week as he followed up with 5-1 victory over Habib Humood with a 6-2 win against Harvey Chandler this afternoon.
After losing the opener, Highfield went on an incredible scoring run to compile consecutive breaks of 73, 74, 78, 71 and 87 and storm into a 5-1 lead.
Chandler briefly rallied with a contribution of 73 before his opponent continued his stunning form to get over the line with a further effort of 74.
An epic contest lasting over five hours saw Boiko complete the second play-off’s final line-up.
In a scrappy affair, during which the Ukrainian scored a high break of just 33, the two players went blow-for-blow all the way before the 19-year-old was able to pull himself over the line in a deciding frame and eliminate the last remaining qualifier from outside of the Q Tour Europe series.
NUESSLE v PETROV
Austria and Estonia will face off with a spot in the professional ranks at stake as Florian Nuessle and Andres Petrov meet in the final of the third Q Tour Global Play-Off.
Austrian national champion Nuessle was forced to battle for his place in the title match as he trailed Iran’s Ehsan Heydari Nezhad on three separate occasions before rallying to restore parity each time.
Having taken frame seven to move ahead for the first time, Nuessle then found his best form of the match as he compiled breaks of 114 and 61 to secure a 6-3 victory and move one away from earning a World Snooker Tour card for the first time in his career.
There was some late night drama in Antalya as Estonia’s Petrov completed the final line-up with a post-midnight success.
The Q Tour event winner stormed into a 4-0 lead at the mid-session interval but English teenager Oliver Sykes hit back to reduce his deficit to just one at 4-3.
Frame eight proved to be vital as Petrov was able to steal it from behind with a break of 60 and he then took the next in the early hours of Thursday morning to set up a final meeting with Nuessle.
The WPBSA Q Tour Global Play-Offs finals take place on Thursday (13 March) and you can follow the event via WPBSA SnookerScores or watch live on the WPBSA Facebook page and YouTube channel.
