Chang Bingyu Wins Asia-Pacific Snooker Championship Crown

Chang Bingyu defeated Ryan Thomerson 6-1 to win the 2025 Asia-Pacific Snooker Championship and earn a two-year World Snooker Tour (WST) tour card.
The 22-year-old, who first joined the professional ranks in 2019 and reached a top ranking of 69th, will return to the WST after a two-year absence following his success in Australia this week.
The annual competition was organised by the Asia-Pacific Snooker & Billiards Federation (APSBF) and was staged at the Commercial Club in Albury, Australia with 57 cueists competing for the title and a WST tour card.
Chang was in strong form all week as he compiled twelve centuries, including a top break of 138, and dropped just four frames across nine matches in the competition.
A clean sweep of whitewash wins in the group stage saw the cueist from China comfortably into the knockout stages where he then beat Sahil Prasad 3-0 to reach the last 16.
Lomnaw Ayuttaya became the first player to take a frame off Chang, but still succumbed to a 4-1 defeat, before further victories over Wan Nansen Sin Man (4-2) and Chau Hon Man (5-0) saw the 22-year-old book his place in the title match.
Australia’s Thomerson was the opponent in the final after he came through a grueling all-Australian semi-final contest against Vinnie Calabrese in a deciding frame.
Chang remained the dominant force at the Commercial Club, however, as he ran out a comfortable 6-1 victor to win the title and secure a return to the professional ranks.
