Stephen Thompson is back this summer at UFC Nashville.

Headlined by 40-fight heavyweight veteran Derrick Lewis against undefeated Tallison Teixeira, the Fight Night event will also feature the return of former title contender Thompson versus Gabriel Bonfim, the promotion announced Friday morning.

"Wonderboy," who is 17-8-1 as a professional and 12-8-1 inside the octagon, will attempt to end a two-fight skid against Shavkat Rakhmonov and Joaquin Buckley when he faces the Brazilian.

Thompson's last UFC win happened in December 2022 when he stopped Kevin Holland. "Wonderboy" challenged for UFC gold in 2016 after starting his UFC career with eight wins in nine bouts, but has since won only four of 12.

Bonfim, 14 years younger than the American, was victorious in four of his five UFC appearances and rebounded from a big upset loss to Nicolas Dalby in 2023 with back-to-back victories over Ange Loosa and Khaos Williams.

A former LFA welterweight champion, "Marretinha" scored first-round chokes in his first three octagon appearances, a Von Flue choke at Dana White's Contender Series followed by a couple of guillotines against Mounir Lazzez and Trevin Giles in the UFC.
