Alex Perez and Steve Erceg are both in need of a win.

The UFC announced Sunday that the veteran flyweight contenders are set to square off at UFC Vegas 109 on Aug. 9. A previously reported middleweight bout between Roman Dolidze and Anthony Hernandez has also been confirmed as the event's headliner.

Perez and Erceg both hold top 15 spots in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, with Perez at No. 10 and Erceg at No. 12, but the one-time title challengers are currently struggling to find their form.

For Perez (25-9), he has just one win in his past five outings. After snapping a three-fight skid (which included a loss to then-flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255) with a knockout of Matheus Nicolau, Perez fell back into the loss column when he injured his knee in a fight with Tatsura Taira in June 2024.

Erceg (12-4) is also on a losing streak that started with a title fight loss. The Australian standout lost a competitive decision to champion Alexandra Pantoja at UFC 301, then dropped his next two bouts against Kai Kara-France and Brandon Moreno.
