Ex-UFC fighter Paige VanZant is finding her groove as part of a new slap-fighting career with her latest win coming at Power Slap 12 on Friday.
After going to a draw in her previous bout due to a foul committed, the 30-year-old veteran returned to a more natural weight class at 125 pounds and she used a new striking hand going from her left to right. While that didn't result in a knockout, VanZant still scored a lopsided decision win over Mikael-Michelle Brown with all three scorecards reading 30-27 in her favor.
Following her latest win, VanZant called for Power Slap creator Dana White to introduce some women's titles with hopes that she'll get the first crack in her next appearance.
"It feels incredible," VanZant said about the win. "The win feels good. I switched to my right hand, I think I'm going to go back to my left. My left is more powerful. I'm going to go back to the left for the next one.
"Hey Dana, where's that [125-pound] belt, baby? Put me on the next card. Let's get some women's belts. We're here to stay. We're here to knock bitches out and slap people all day."

Because slap-fighting isn't an exact science, VanZant ultimately won by delivering the more powerful blows, although neither competitor dropped from the strikes landed.
VanZant definitely connected with the stiffer shots, although as she noted in her post-fight interview, it seems like she wasn't scoring with as much power with her right hand. Still, VanZant was aiming and firing with better accuracy and power while Brown was struggling to really connect with any of her shots.

That was enough for VanZant to get the job done and earn the victory as she moves to 2-0-1 in her Power Slap career.
With opportunities in Power Slap, BKFC and recently signing with GFL, VanZant has plenty to keep her busy these days not to mention her husband Austin Vanderford recently signing with the UFC and picking up a short-notice win in his debut at UFC Seattle.
