UFC 313 video: Ignacio Bahomondes makes quick work of Jalin Turner with nasty triangle choke submission

Ignacio Bahamondes may best be known as a lethal striker but he showed he's got some grappling skills as well after wrapping up a nasty submission to finish Jalin Turner at UFC 313.
While he started strong on the feet, Bahomondes actually ended up on the ground with Turner opting for the takedown but that move didn't pay off. Bahamondes quickly scrambled and wrapped his legs around the head and arm and a split second later he had the triangle choke locked on tight.

Turner had no choice but to tap out with the end coming at just 2:29 in the first round.
"I'm a grappler now," Bahamondes said with a smile on his face after the win. I knew I was going to submit it. I told in the interviews, I was going to submit him in the first round. I just felt it. I had a dream one day again and I dreamed I submitted him. Whenever I saw his face, he was off. Whatever gets me closer to the belt, [I want next]."
When the fight started, it was Turner who took the center of the cage and started moving forward with Bahamondes answering back with some stiff kicks. Turner actually countered with a takedown to try and show off some of the grappling skills he added after a disappointing performance in his previous fight at UFC 300.
While that move started off strong, Bahomondes wasted no time scrambling off the bottom and that's when he locked the legs around Turner to snatch the triangle choke. Once he had it locked up, Bahamondes secured the submission and Turner was forced to tap.
The win moves Bahamondes to 3-0 in his previous three appearances with a 6-1 resume overall in his past seven fights. He's likely staring at ranked competition in the near future.
As for Turner, he took off his gloves after the fight and it appeared he may be contemplating retirement following a disappointing performance following an 11-month layoff that already had him in a tough position heading into UFC 313 on Saturday.
The loss dropped Turner to 1-4 in his past five fights.
