Till Gets New Opponent For Manchester Misfits Fight

After weeks without an opponent after Tommy Fury withdrew from their boxing bout, Darren Till has a new name to face for his U.K. homecoming fight.

Darren Till's new opponent for Misfits X Series 20 in January has been announced, and it's a big step down from original adversary Tommy Fury.

Misfits regular Anthony "Pretty Boy" Taylor will now step into the ring to box Till, who's repeated insistence that he'd kick Fury in the head if he was losing pushed Tommy to withdraw. Till vs. Taylor now headlines the Misfits card on January 18th, 2025 at the Co-Op Live in Manchester, England. Also fighting: Wade Plemons vs. "The Masai Warrior" Moziah Pinder.

Taylor holds a 7-5 record in MMA with his best win being a majority decision win over Nate Diaz training partner Chris Avila in Bellator. Avila would beat Taylor via his own majority decision a year later on the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley 2 undercard. Since then Taylor has been a staple on Influencer boxing and Misfits Fighting events.

His 'almost' fights are more eyebrow-raising than who he's ended up fighting. Anthony Taylor almost fought former UFC contender Paul Daley, almost fought recently deceased boxer Paul Bamba, and almost fought KSI in a two-vs-one fight where he was supposed to team up with Sulieman "Slim" Albaher against the YouTuber.

In his last fight, Taylor TKO'd Anderson Silva's son Gabriel Silva. Now he'll have a chance to use Darren Till as a stepping board to bigger things in 2025.

Till has fought just once since requesting his release from the UFC in 2022 — a farcical boxing exhibition against random opponent Moh Mutie that ended in a brawl after Mutie accused Till of repeated punches to the back of the head. After getting booked to fight Tommy Fury, Till claimed he weighed 253 pounds and footage of him shadow boxing shirtless seemed to back that up.

We'll see what condition Till shows up in for his fight with Anthony Taylor in January. It can be hard to gauge the level of competition in Influencer boxing, but Taylor's got a good amount of real combat sports experience and has been very active over the last two years. Now that Tommy Fury is out, Misfits could be looking to build their guy Taylor up off Till's name. It's up to Till to stop that from happening.
