Stipe Miocic weighed in on Tom Aspinall’s potential gameplan to fight Jon Jones.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic knows what Tom Aspinall should expect if he clashes with Jon Jones in the Octagon later this year.
Aspinall and Jones are on a potential collision course as the UFC brass continues to negotiate a heavyweight title unification bout between the two superstar athletes. Despite teasing retirement leading up to his UFC 309 win over Miocic, Jones wants at least one more fight before hanging up the gloves and ending his legendary career.
Despite many believing Aspinall could hang Jones a rare defeat in the cage, Miocic believes Aspinall should focus on a few key points to get the victory.

Stipe Miocic advises Tom Aspinall for facing Jon Jones
During a recent interview with The Schmo, Miocic shared what advice he’d give Aspinall for facing Jones in the Octagon.
“Don’t do what I did [LAUGHS]. Tom is super tough and he hits hard, moves well, he’s a big man,” Miocic said. “If he stays calm under the situation and whatever happens, he just stays calm, I think he’ll be fine. If he picks his shots and he’s smart with what he does, I think he’ll do fine.”
Miocic lost to Jones at UFC 309 in November by third-round TKO before announcing his retirement from MMA. The former two-time heavyweight champion is regarded by many as the greatest fighter in divisional history.
Despite stalled contract talks, Aspinall remains optimistic about the Jones fight coming to fruition. But if Jones doesn’t sign the dotted line soon, UFC CEO Dana White could potentially strip Jones of his heavyweight title.

Aspinall hasn’t fought since defending the interim UFC heavyweight title against Curtis Blaydes last July at UFC 304. He earned the interim championship by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295 in a short-notice booking after Jones withdrew from the main event slot due to injury.
Aspinall and Jones have traded barbs in the media since fight talks surfaced last year. They could potentially headline the UFC’s annual International Fight Week event, if negotiations move in a positive direction.
While it’s uncertain if Aspinall will face Jones later this year, Miocic believes Aspinall can not only dethrone the champ but beat Jones at his own game.
