Stipe Micoc says retirement is always a possibility

Stipe Miocic has been on the sidelines since his KO loss to Francis Ngannou back in March 2021.  He returns at UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden in New York against the GOAT, Jon Jones.

Jones called out Miocic after defeating Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 earlier this year to win the vacant heavyweight title.  It was Jones' return to the octagon after three years away from competition.  The UFC 295 matchup pits the greatest UFC fighter of all time against the greatest heavyweight champion of all time.

"I want to fight the best as does he, so why not have the two best fight each other," Miocic told ESPN.  "It's going to be a great fight. I'm excited."

"He walked in there and did his job," Miocic said about Jones' win over Gane.  "I didn't watch much of it, but he was definitely going for a quick finish and a quick finish is a good night."

"I didn't expect it," Moicic continued.  "I thought it was going to go the distance, or a few more rounds to figure each other out."

Miocic thinks Jones' win came so fast that we haven't really seen him in a heavyweight fight yet.  "You're going to find out November 11.  I can tell you that right now."

Jones has indicated that UFC 295 could be his final fight, and Miocic said the same thing.

"It's always a possibility because after my first fight in the UFC, UFC 136, I thought about retiring, so we'll see.  But I'm not going to worry about that.  I'm going to worry about fighting," Miocic said.
