Sean O'Malley talks potential future crossover boxing fight against Floyd Mayweather

UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has previously teased at wanting to fight boxer Gervonta Davis in the future, but he is now considering the potential of fighting Floyd Mayweather.

After beating Conor McGregor in the boxing ring to move to 50-0 in what was one of the biggest combat sports events of all time, Floyd Mayweather has continued to lace up the gloves for the past six years and fight in exhibition bouts.

Current UFC bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley is budding into quite the star for the UFC and has previously spoken about his desire to fight in the boxing ring, mentioning names like Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia.

Sean O’Malley talks about potential future fight against Floyd Mayweather

‘Money’ Mayweather fought this past weekend against John Gotti III in another exhibition bout, his first in two years.

As expected for an exhibition boxing bout, something extremely bizarre happened when Mayweather swapped out the ref mid-fight because he stopped the fight claiming that the 47-year-old was punching Gotti III on the back of the head.

After changing the referee, the fight continued and the two fought out the eight, two-minute rounds.

Despite it being an exhibition bout, ‘Suga’ Sean was complimentary about Mayweather, stating that he looked great throughout the fight, despite being 47 years old.

“The first couple of highlights I watched from like round one and three, Floyd was piecing him up, looking good as f*ck. Like pull 2’s, like, it was pretty f*cking sick,” O’Malley said in the recent episode of the Timbo and Sugar Show.

O’Malley’s head coach, Tim Welch, went on to ask the 29-year-old if it would be possible at all for him to fight Mayweather in a crossover boxing bout.

“Me vs Floyd? I would love that, that would be crazy. Just get him right at the end, put him out, and put him in,” O’Malley answered.

With the UFC having already promoted a crossover bout including Mayweather, they could potentially consider doing it again with arguably their biggest current active star, O’Malley.

Whether it happens during ‘Suga’s’ UFC career or not, he has revealed that it is definitely something he will do once he is done with MMA.

“Exhibition sh*t? 100% (I will do it once I’m done with MMA),” he added.

Sean O’Malley predicts a left-hand knockout over Merab Dvalishvili

Before O’Malley can even think about entertaining a crossover boxing fight, he must first defend his UFC bantamweight title against Merab Dvalishvili, in a historic event at the Las Vegas Sphere.

The two are scheduled to main event the one-off event at UFC 306 on September 14 and if the champion does score himself a left-hand knockout, as he is predicting, his stardom will continue to rise and he will put himself closer to being able to talk about a huge crossover fight.

“Left-hand to the choppers, I feel like I’m either gonna brutally, well, I know I’m gonna hurt him, at one point I’m gonna hurt him but then it could turn into just a brutal KO.

“Absolutely, like not a good weight cut, not a good camp, and he just get slept badly, like five or six punches just add up and the last one puts him into the canvas, snoring, nose crooked,” O’Malley predicted.
