With his clash with Merab Dvalishvili less than a week away, Sean O’Malley has taken aim at Conor McGregor, by insisting there’s something he can provide the fans with that the Irishman can’t.

The American will attempt to defend his bantamweight world championship this Saturday evening on the historic UFC 306 card at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Sean O’Malley takes aim at Conor McGregor with brutal swipe

Blessed with remarkable striking skills, and a charismatic personality, Sean O’Malley is quickly becoming one of the biggest stars in all of mixed martial arts.

With his fame on an upward trajectory, the American hopes a victory over Merab Dvalishvili will send shockwaves through the entire sport.

However, while he’s undeniably growing in popularity, he’s still not quite as well-known to mainstream fans as Conor McGregor.

But O’Malley insists that if the Irish legend fails to win his next match-up, he’ll overtake the Dubliner as the number-one name in the sport.

WOW: John Kavanagh praises Michael Chandler but says he's got nothing Conor McGregor hasn't seen

He told MMA Fighting: “Yeah, I think I’m very close. I think Conor has one more big fight in him because of the big question mark. Can Conor come back? Can he actually beat [Michael] Chandler?

“So, I think Conor has one more huge fight. If he goes out there and loses his next fight, that’ll be like six in a row or something. It’s gotta die down eventually—maybe not—that just tests how big of a star he is.

“But I would assume, he goes out there, if he loses, I’m there, I’m the guy, I’m the number one.”

The 135-pound title holder was later asked what he brings to the sport that McGregor doesn’t, and he took this as an opportunity to fire a shot at the two-weight world champion.

O’Malley exclaimed: “I bring fights. I fight often. That’s what it is right now. Conor was good on the mic, the accent, the words that he chose. Performances, he had a couple of good performances. But I’m consistent right now; I’m fighting a lot, so that’s what I bring.”

Sean O’Malley trolls Henry Cejudo

McGregor isn’t the only person the bantamweight King has taken aim at during the build-up to UFC 306.

O’Malley joined Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman on their Pound 4 Pound podcast, and took the opportunity to mock ‘Triple C’ on his own show.

With a smile on his face, the world champion trolled Cejudo with a brutal dig before slamming his laptop shut without even giving his rival an opportunity to reply.
