Ahead of Francis Ngannou’s highly anticipated PFL debut against Renan Ferreira on October 19, the two took part in a press conference this Thursday and fans have scaled Ferreira for some extremely controversial comments.

After taking his talents to the boxing ring at the end of last year and again at the beginning of this year, Francis Ngannou‘s MMA return was finally announced to take place in October, where he’ll take on PFL heavyweight champion, Renan Ferreira.

Ferreira earned the shot to take on the heavyweight star after knocking out Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader in February, during a champion vs champion event.

Renan Ferreira makes extremely disrespectful comments during PFL press conference

Ahead of their blockbuster bout, the two behemoths took part in the PFL Battle of the Giants press conference this Thursday where they sized each other up for the first time.

Unfortunately, though, during the press conference ‘Problema’ made an extremely disrespectful comment towards the 37-year-old former UFC heavyweight champion.

“Francis has been going through a tough year in his life, but the toughest challenge in his life and in his year is gonna be me, I’m gonna be the biggest problem of his year right now, it’s a tough puzzle for him to figure out,” Ferreira bizarrely commented during the press conference.

The controversial comments come after Ngannou’s 15-month-old son Kobe heartbreakingly died earlier this year.

Of course, it has been an unimaginably tough time for Ngannou who previously admitted that he considered retiring from combat sports, but is continuing for the memory of his son.

The Brazilian’s comments have been picked up by the MMA fanbase who have scalded him for being disrespectful.

One fan commented on X: “One of those instances where I won’t be too concerned if he takes a while waking up lol.”

Another fan commented: “Incredibly crass thing for Renan Ferreira to say. Francis Ngannou will send this man to the shadow realm.”

Being the incredible class act that he is, Ngannou didn’t immediately retaliate or react to Ferreira’s comments, however, he did get emotional a few moments later when he was speaking about his son.

“My goal right now is not just about being back in MMA, it’s about being back in activity in combat sports in general, it’s being back in what I love and then, I think I always had a purpose, I always look forward for my reason why I’m (fighting) and lately things have been a little tough,” Ngannou began to explain.

“I haven’t questioned if I have to continue or if I just hang up the gloves then I realized that should be a purpose for me. I didn’t have a chance to fight for my son man, so I think this is it,” he emotionally finished.
