The number one contender will finally get his second shot at UFC gold when he steps inside the Octagon on March 8 in Las Vegas.

Magomed Ankalaev has sent many warnings to Alex Pereira during the long build-up to their upcoming meeting at the T-Mobile Arena.

Whilst Pereira chases records set by Jon Jones after achieving dominance in the light heavyweight division, the Russian has been right on his heels.

In fact, Ankalaev has his own Jones’ stat in sight but to accomplish this feat, he will need to beat one of the most dangerous strikers to have ever stepped inside the Octagon.

If there’s one thing that we know for sure about both men, it’s that they’re incredibly confident about leaving the fight capital of the world with the 205-pound gold wrapped around their waist.

Magomed Ankalaev vows to change Alex Pereira’s face at UFC 313

Magomed Ankalaev has stuck to his guns during his pursuit of the UFC’s light heavyweight champion.

Whilst many expect him to hold a significant grappling advantage over Alex Pereira, the challenger has repeatedly claimed that he will shock the world by knocking out the former elite kickboxer.

With the final stages of his preparations now underway, Ankalaev is continuing to make bold statements on social media about what he will do on March 8.

His first title fight at UFC 282 against Jan Blachowicz was called as a split draw, meaning that neither man was successful in claiming the vacant title.

Ankalaev recently claimed on X that not only will he constantly try to put Pereira away to eliminate the need for any scorecards, he will leave a permanent mark on his opponent.

“Training camps finish. I'm ready for war Saturday night I will change this guy's face @ufc 313 I'm looking for a finish from the first minute”

Magomed Ankalaev has proven himself to be an effective striker

Magomed Ankalaev has shown during his recent wins over the likes of Aleksandar Rakic and Johnny Walker that he’s far more than just a competent striker.

His constant pressure could put Alex Pereira on the backfoot where he can make the champion uncomfortable but there’s one issue with that.

‘Poatan’ has made his name from beating and knocking out other dangerous strikers so there’s no denying that the path of least resistance would be to take him out of his comfort zone.

Though he could be trying to keep his hand concealed, it appears from his recent fights that Ankalaev will get into a striking match with the champion which could be a dangerous roll of the dice.
