Logan Paul’s footage hitting the heavy bag has fans on social media concerned for his touted return to the ring.

Rumors have been swirling for the past two weeks about a potential exhibition boxing match between the WWE star and UFC legend Conor McGregor. The Irishman claims that there are ‘preliminary agreements’ for the bout to take place in India.

And on Sunday, McGregor’s news outlet The Mac Life reported that he is set to take part in a Visit India tourism campaign that culminates in the fight. And he even co-authored an Instagram post that claimed he and Paul will be receiving $250million purses for the event, which is funded by the Ambani family.

Conor McGregor provides major update on Logan Paul fight

On Sunday, a troll tweet from an account purporting to be former TalkSPORT editor Michael Benson managed to infiltrate the world of legitimate MMA media. The ‘report’, which cited an imaginary previous post from Dan Rafael, was the latest in a string of comical claims.

The troll claimed that the bout would take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and that there would be an even split of a $500million pot for Conor McGregor and Logan Paul. This was picked up by a number of outlets, and reposted by McGregor himself.

But in a bizarre turn of events, McGregor himself has collaborated on an Instagram post from his news outlet The Mac Life, which is repeating these reports. This is despite the troll account being exposed as illegitimate, confusing fans further.

For his part, Paul has been a bit more coy with his involvement, simply liking a post from social media aggregator Happy Punch on Instagram alluding to the purse. He has yet to explicitly say anything about the fight after the Irishman claimed on December 17 that the fight had a ‘preliminary agreement’.

Logan Paul returns to boxing training amid Conor McGregor fight rumors

Despite trying to remain quiet, Paul couldn’t resist teasing fans with some footage of himself hitting the heavy bag on social media amid the fight rumors. He posted a short video to his Instagram story, which quickly went viral across other platforms.

He can be seen hitting the bag at his Puerto Rican training base, which he shares with his brother Jake Paul who also lives in a luxury mansion on the island of Dorado. The facility has rings for professional wrestling and boxing, with the elder sibling focusing on the former in recent times.

In the video, it appeared to be a low intensity bag work session for the elder Paul brother, as well as a chance to advertise his drinks brand Prime, which he tagged. He was also training in front of a ring emblazoned with his brother’s deodorant company W.

While Jake has been forging a path in the boxing ring for the past four years, Logan has only ever stepped in for major circus-style fights. He most recently landed his first win by DQ against McGregor’s close friend Dillon Danis after three previous efforts didn’t go his way.

Fans react to Logan Paul’s new boxing footage

Once the video of Paul training made its way to X, fans were quick to analyze what they had seen in the few seconds. Critiques were many, with the most obvious one seeming to be that he is still throwing arm punches six years after his first fight, as well as his inability to get his hands back up after punching.

“Dudes been boxing for like 4-5 years and still can't properly punch,” One viewer wrote. “Dude needs a new coach asap.” Another joked that he was similar to comical footage from Stephen A Smith a few years ago, adding: “I haven’t seen hands that impressive since Stephen A Smith.”

“I like Logan but he’s NEVER improved after all these years of boxing,” One fan wrote in a concerned message. “I’d be surprised if he makes it to the 4th round.”

However, others were more complimentary, as well as noting that he will enter the ring with a monstrous size advantage over the Irishman. “He looks faster than the recent Conor bag footage,” One nice comment read. “And before anyone says anything, yes Im aware of the age difference.”
