Jon Jones shoots down potential fight with Tom Aspinall

While the MMA community is joined in unison in the hope of one day witnessing a titanic collision between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, the American seemingly isn’t willing to give them what they want.

Throughout his career, the 37-year-old has used his phenomenal athleticism and remarkable creativity to demolish a plethora of top-level opponents to cement his status as one of the greatest fighters to ever grace the sport.

However, now in the twilight of his career, it appears Jones is solely interested in his bout with Stipe Miocic before riding off into the sunset.

This will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to Aspinall, who’s more than done enough to earn his shot at the undisputed title.

Blessed with explosive power and lightning speed, the Englishman has solidified his place as the most dangerous competitor in the division, with many believing he has what it takes to defeat Jones.

Alas, it appears we’ll never find out, as in an interview with Clocked N’ Loaded at UFC 306, the polarizing MMA legend confessed that his upcoming outing is likely the last time we’ll see him in the cage.

Jones said: "This is gonna be the last time. More than likely."

Jon Jones compared to Lance Armstrong

While fans will complain if Jones walks away without having set foot in the octagon with Aspinall, he’ll still go down as one of the best to ever do it.

However, according to MMA coach, Javier Mendez, he can’t be considered the number one.

In a recent interview, he stated that, in his opinion, the New Yorker’s legacy is severely hindered by his failed drug tests.

In an astonishing rant, the combat sports expert explained why he views Jones in the same light as Lance Armstong.
