As far as current interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall is concerned, a potential offing with either fellow gold holder, Jon Jones or former two-time titleholder, Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 is fine by him — off the heels of confirmation from CEO, Dana White how the Atherton native will serve as an official back up fighter at the event.

Aspinall, the current interim heavyweight titleholder, has been sidelined since he co-headlined UFC 304 back in July in Manchester, avenging his sole professional defeat in a one-sided opening round knockout win over perennial contender, Curtis Blaydes in the pair’s rematch.

Failing in his pursuit of an immediate title unification pairing with fellow champion, Jones, Aspinall and fans received confirmation at Noche UFC over the course of last weekend how Jones would be headlining UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden in November in a rescheduled title fight against the veteran, Miocic.

And off the back of confirmation from long-time CEO, White how Aspinall would be serving as the official backup to the pairing between Jones and Miocic, the British favorite revealed he had no problem fighting the duo in the same night.

“What else happened there was big Jon Jones, big Stipe Miocic matched up with one another,” Tom Aspinall said on his YouTube channel. “Finally, it’s official. November 16., MSG, New York City, The heavyweight title is on the line at long last. Finally. We are confirmed for it.”

I, of course, will be there to watch these two gentlemen go at it,” Tom Aspinall explained. “I, of course, have told the UFC if anybody gets injured or for any other reason why nobody can make it to that fight, why one of them might pull out, I’m ready to go, if I need to. I’ll fight both of them in the same night, no problem.”
